Potions… that was a fairly good cla*s. It wasn’t one of her favorites, but she was still fairly good at it. Athena did get worried about her potions grade, but only if they were working on a potion that was hard and this one was. They had to learn to make the wit sharpening potion and she was having issues with it. Athena had asked the teacher if she could stay behind after cla*s, since it was her last one, and work on it, so she was there now working on it. She was trying to figure out why it was turning into a bright orange color when it wasn’t supposed to.
The professor was there, looking through essays. He wasn’t going to help her. She already tried asking him for it. He had just said that she wasn’t going to learn if he helped her. Athena scrapped the last potion and started working on it again. She was doing something wrong, that was obvious. The question was: What was she doing wrong? Was she forgetting ingredients? She went through all of the ingredients and she had it right. Maybe she was putting them in backwards. Athena got fresh ingredients and tried the potion again, following the book instructions carefully.
“This potion isn’t supposed to be orange, but I seem to be doing everything right. Why can’t I get it?” she said out loud, not expecting much of an answer. The professor shrugged and went back to the essays. “It would be nice if you gave me a clue.” She knew that this professor wasn’t exactly the nice one and she was sure that he was a death eater. “One more time.” If she didn’t get it right this time, she would give up, write to Percy Weasley for help and she would get it right the next time. She was sure of that.
Athena scrapped that potion and got fresh ingredients and worked on it again. She heard a voice, but paid no attention. She had to get this right.

Louis didn’t like anyone, but somehow, it had gotten around Hogwarts that he was in love with Athena Zabini. Sure, he was planning on asking her out, but only because he hadn’t had her yet. His goal was to have just about every girl in this school. He knew that he had to stay away from Malfoy because of Severus. His best friend and cousin was still hooked up on her. Louis needed to introduce him to the wonderful world of playing. There were plenty of girls out there that he could go out with if he would just become a player. Athena was a Gryffindor, which meant that to ask her out, he had to find her in the corridors. Anywhere Scorpius was, she was sure to be, but he didn’t know where Scorpius was and didn’t really care. He hoped that she wasn’t with him, though. He didn’t want to ask her out with him around. Louis didn’t know what his feelings were about Athena and didn’t want to deal with an angry Scorpius. He wandered around the dungeons, after checking the other floors. He was just about ready to give up the search when he looked into the potions cla*sroom and saw her in there. It was funny that someone who was good with potions couldn’t figure out such an easy potion. He remembered doing that in his fourth year. “You’re measuring wrong, Mademoiselle,” Louis said, walking up to her, ignoring the professor. “I’ll show you, mon cher.” He gathered the ingredients and then measured them the right way and put them into the potion. It turned a violet color, which was what it was supposed to do. “That’s right, Athena. You just need to measure the right way. Putting too much of an ingredient in a potion can be dangerous.” Louis grinned at her as he scrapped his potion. “Why don’t you try it now?” It wasn’t the right time to ask her out, but it would be soon. He knew it.

Louis… he was adorable, but he was no Scorpius. Her mother wouldn’t appreciate it if she stopped chasing Scorpius and went for Louis. He was a Weasley, after all, and that family was a bunch of blood traitors, DA lovers. Though most of them were in the gang these days and Louis was. Perhaps her mother wouldn’t mind. It wasn’t like she was pulling a PJ. She wasn’t joining the army or dating anyone in the army. Athena wasn’t bringing shame to her family. It was agreed then. If he asked, she was going to go out with him and stop chasing Scorpius Malfoy.
She listened and watched closely as he started explaining what she was doing wrong and showing her how to do it. All she was doing was measuring wrong? She was feeling really stupid and decided that Louis wouldn’t want her now. He wouldn’t want someone that was stupid and couldn’t even measure right. Athena watched him scrap the potion. She got fresh ingredients and sat back down to try again. “What did you call me, Louis? What’s Mon Cher?”
She looked back at the potion ingredients and measured and cut them what she thought, or rather hoped, was the right way. Once she cut them, she looked back at Louis and smiled. He really was cute. He was a player, but she could get him out of that and Scorpius would probably like that she would stop chasing him. Athena added the ingredients and when it turned violet, she looked back at him, feeling proud of herself. “I did it and that was a fairly hard potion. Thanks for helping me, Lou.”

Louis touched Athena’s hair. It was so soft and silky. He knew he had a hair fetish. He loved girls’ hair, especially when they took care of it as well as Athena took care of hers. It was quite obvious that she took good care of it. He sat down next to her and laughed when she didn’t understand his French. He decided that he needed to give her some French lessons. It was a romantic language, after all. “Mon cher means my dear,” he explained, smiling at her. “And Mademoiselle means lady. I speak French, sometimes more than I should.”
He watched her closely as she tried the potion. He smiled at her encouragingly when she looked up at him. He’d watched closely enough and knew that she had measured them right. Athena was going to get the potion right on this try. Louis smiled at her excitement when she did get it right. “Félicitations, Athena,” he said, speaking in French without realizing that he was. “I’m sorry. That means congratulations. I think I’m more comfortable with French.”
Louis became aware of the teacher watching them, but he ignored him. It wasn’t any of his business what they were doing. “Would you like to try it again? Or maybe we could go some place else?” The potions cla*sroom wasn’t a very good place to ask a girl out. Besides, they weren’t alone. He wanted her alone. This way nobody could interrupt or tell her not to go out with him. “Would you like to go to the lake?” Louis stood up and extended his hand to her.
