Chance woke up that morning and all he could think about was getting sometime with Freddie. They had promised that this was the day that they would be together. It was a Saturday, so the two could spend all day together. He was looking forward to that. He and Freddie didn’t really get too much time. He wondered how Roxy was doing and if Boyd had asked her out yet. The two of them were really cute and would make a very cute couple and when they did get together, the four of them could double date. That would be fun.
He threw on a long sleeve, navy blue shirt with a V collar and khaki pants that had rips in the knee. Those rips weren’t intentional. It was just that his clothes were old. One of these days, he’ll go shopping again. Chance just needed to keep some attention on his books. He couldn’t read. He really wasn’t very smart and didn’t understand how he could’ve been sorted into Ravenclaw, but he didn’t complain. Freddie was in that house and he wanted to be near him. Maybe during this day together, he could ask him to tutor him.
After combing his hair, shaving and putting on socks and shoes, he left the dorm and paused in the common room for a minute, looking around, wondering if Freddie was around. When he didn’t see him, Chance continued on his way downstairs and out the front door. He decided to wait on the front steps until he came. He hoped that it would be soon. He couldn’t wait to see Freddie again. He leaned against the railing, staring off into the distance, thinking about what he and his boyfriend could do that day.

Sleeping was a luxury that too many people took for granted. They didn’t realize until they were seventh years that sleeping wasn’t something to take for granted. Final exams took up most of the time; studying and preparing for them, that people rarely got the eight hours of sleep that were recommended. Freddie himself was lucky if he got five hours of sleep. It also took up a lot of personal time and he hadn’t had that much to spend with Chance or his sister. He had to make sure that they realized he didn’t mean to ignore them. There was just too much work to be done. Freddie was looking forward to leaving this year, but he didn’t want to leave them. It would be hard to keep a relationship going when you were working, but your boyfriend still had two more years left of school. He wasn’t going to break up with him though. He loved Chance.
He’d overslept. It was supposed to be him and Chance all day and a couple of hours had been lost. They still had more, but those couple of hours would matter. The day would end up going so fast, Freddie knew it. One minute, he would just find Chance and the next, it would be dark. Well, they would just have to make the most of it and maybe after the year, Chance could come and stay with them. Freddie was planning on telling people that he was gay and that he loved Chance. If his boyfriend wasn’t ready, oh well. Roxy already knew and he could bet that some of the Baddock’s already know too. It was hard to keep something like that a secret and he was shocked that he’d been able to for this long, especially at this school. It was so big. He wasn’t sure if his parents would accept it, but Roxy did and she mattered more than his parents. After all, he was seventeen and leaving this school in a couple of months. He didn’t need their approval. He would be able to find his own place after this year and Chance could come and live with him.
Freddie jumped out of bed and grabbed a light blue sweater out of his drawer and a white muscle shirt and a pair of black jeans. He threw them on, and then put on a pair of black tennis shoes. He could pull off stubble and he had no hair to comb, so then he left his dorm, went to the boys’ fifth year dorm and found it empty, so he went downstairs to the common room. He couldn’t expect Chance to hang around for him. Freddie didn’t stick around in the common room. He didn’t see Chance and he left, running downstairs, wondering where his boyfriend could be. His first look was outside and he was rewarded. He found Chance leaning against the railing outside. He walked up behind him and covered his eyes with his hands. He didn’t say a word, wondering what Chance would do and if he would know that it was him.
