Skylar had heard about the Devol Family’s arrival. He figured it could pose for a few problems but decided that it would be better to step out in order to greet this family and see how things turn. He approached the fair warning from Yumiko as he made the arrangements needed in order to meet with this fair gentleman. The name rang in his mind as if he should have heard and known it before. He made haste as he moved through the haven to the office where he kept parchment and quills. He wrote the note requesting the presence of Devol to meet him in Hogs Head in an hour.
He swiftly called out to his mate Whisper to inform her that he was heading towards Hogs head to meet Master Devol; another vampire in the area. He collected his things and headed out. He moved swiftly towards the hogsmeade. He did leave Yumiko and Whisper the option of joining the two of them however, being the sort of business this is he wasn’t too keen on taking his two best ladies with him. He’d rather they stayed behind under Tristan’s vision. Of course he wasn’t going to force them to do something they didn’t want to do.
Once he got to Hogsmeade he glanced around before he slipped into the bar and made his way to the far back corner where they wouldn’t be bothered. He bought a few rounds of firewhiskey but chose to have them hold off on serving until his guest of honour arrived. He wondered if this guest would be a pleasant one or one that would create some trouble. He didn’t listen to everything that was mentioned about him as he liked the element of surprise ever so often. He wanted to find out what this would entail. He also wondered the age of the young man. To have such a presence he knew that he was no new or young vampire.

Patrick put his hand to the ground and allowed the ladybird to climb up it. Ladybirds were his favorite bugs. They weren’t pests and didn’t annoy anyone, yet, there were still some people that didn’t like them. He took out a small box and put the Ladybird in it and then covered it with a lid that had small air holes punctured in it. They were so small that she could still breathe, but not escape from it.
He was looking for more bugs when an owl dropped a letter in front of him. He picked it up and read it. Patrick wondered who this Rycerz guy was. It had to be a vampire. He wasn’t used to there being other vampires where they go. Well, it didn’t really bother him as long as he wasn’t one that caused trouble. He dealt with blood thirsty killers before, but he didn’t want to cause a scene. Hopefully, he wasn’t one of those bloodthirsty killers.
He ran from where he was to Hogsmeade, so he could get there quicker. Just before entering the village, he slowed to a walk. He should’ve gone home first, he realized. Maybe did a little research before coming. Patrick was going to be nice, no matter what, though. He didn’t want to make an enemy with anyone, especially if he wasn’t one of those killers. He walked into the Hogs Head and looked around.
He saw what appeared to be a teenager sitting in the back. He was generally against changing children unless if he had no other choice. He only had one teenager living with him and that was Mary. She’d actually be about ninety years old now, though she looked about fourteen. Patrick made his way to him. “Would you be Master Rycerz? I’m Patrick Devol. You wished to see me.”

Skylar relaxed at the far back as he waited for the man to make his appearance. He glanced over to the doors before he turned more to look at the man who walked in. He blinked for a moment before he glanced back to wait for the man to approach. He certainly didn’t want trouble he was hoping to make peace even though he knew it was rare for vampires of one line and vampires to another make peace and get along. He glanced to the man as he approached. He picked out that he was an adult but there wasn’t really a way to say how hold the man really was. He did have to admit the vampire did seem to be calm and down to earth.
He stood up as the man approached him and he knew who the man was right away. He gave a slight nod. “It is a pleasure, hopefully, to meet you, Master Patrick Devol.” He said kindly, “I am Skylar Rycerz. Please call me Skylar.” He stated. He nodded slowly as he motioned Devol to have a seat. “Forgive me in not holding this in a more private location.” He said as he had a seat himself. He glanced around the place. “It’s not the greatest for privacy but it’s better than many others.” He looked sturdy at Patrick. “I’ll cut right down to business.”
“I’m the leader, the sire of my coven. I have a fairly large clan. Most of them come and go but they do reside within my haven most of the time. We are not like others, however, and we don’t believe in drinking from muggles or wizards and we don’t kill anything.” He stated jumping right into his point. “I have heard there was another master or sire if you will, in the area.” He explained, “So my question to you, is how do you run your coven?”

The word master always annoyed him, but he never got mad about it. Patrick simply ignored it and told them to call him by his name. Most of those that called him that were humans that stayed at his residence. He knew that they were just trying to show some respect, but he didn’t like how that made him sound like he was in charge of something. Patrick didn’t control those that lived with him. “Stick with Patrick, Skylar,” He said, sitting down.
He liked what he was hearing as Skylar talked about his coven. That was another one that he despised. It sounded so impersonal, but ignoring the word, he liked that they weren’t killers. He hadn’t met too many vampires that were like that. They might just be able to stand each other as long as nobody from this coven messed with his family. “Humans were never meant to be food, but we do kill animals. We need to get the blood from somewhere.”
“The best way to describe mine is family,” Patrick explained about his clan. “We are not large, but there is a lot of warmth, even love. Those that I have changed are all my children, even though some would look to be older than me. I will not change anybody under the age of eighteen unless if there is no other choice.” Patrick looked around and noticed that there were a few looking at them. He stared at them until they looked away. “We will not drink from humans, but we have killed animals. I only force the newborns to stay with me. Once they are not newborns, they are free to leave.” That is basically everything about his clan. He leaned back in his chair and waited for any questions that Skylar might have.

Skylar nodded as he listened to the man. He could sense that Patrick didn’t like the word master either. Part of him started to wonder if he liked the word sire but he wasn’t about to ask. He would have to admit that he believes it would be interesting to see how Patrick’s family and his own would get along had they all been brought together. Yet he did know that a few of the girls in his own would try to cause a few problems. He also could tell that the man was unsure of the dealings since he looked so young. He did feel that he could attempt to lessen the slight tension between himself and Patrick. He smiled, “Please don’t be alarmed. I am a lot older than what I look and there are certain terms that I prefer not to use however, I’m not sure how formal you are.” He said.
He nodded as he listened to how Patrick spoke about humans and food. He did have to admit that he did take a few bags of blood for the hospitals when he was in a pinch but otherwise he stuck to the animals as well. He was please that it was something they both agreed upon. He glanced around the room casually and unnoticeable, “Yes, we do have to get it from somewhere. We keep a stable near the haven I have a few who hunts and we keep them there we feed off them but we still do not kill them all.” He said.
“You are a man who do not like the terms either.” He said in acknowledgement. He smiled slightly as he nodded. “The youngest I have changed was twelve. She went through a brutal ending and it was only moments she had.” He stated. “I have only changed one that was not about to die and that was my lovely mate. Otherwise, I do not kill anyone if they are not about to die anyway. I must agree with what you do with the newborns since I do the same.” He stated as he nodded. He was surprise that he did have so much in common with this vampire. He started to wonder if they could be peaceful and create an alliance.

Patrick could sense that he wasn’t as young as he looked. He could be about his age and he was willing to bet that he was. “I’ll admit to being shocked when I saw you, but I can sense that you are not the age you look to be. I’m willing to bet that you are somewhere around my age, give or take a few years.” He paused for a moment and then continued. “I do not follow how some vampires live. I resent the term Master and sire and any other word that would make me seem more superior to those that I live with.”
They don’t have animals near there home. The place that he built for his family was not equipped for animal living. The only animals near his home are his bugs, though he does allow owls for post. “My home is not equipped for animals. We have an owl for the post and that’s it. We mostly hunt out of England and we never visit the same place twice. I’m afraid that if we keep animals at my house, my girls will become attached to them and won’t want to feed.” Patrick knew that Marcia definitely would. She loved animals and sometimes has trouble feeding from them when hunting.
Twelve years old… he’d never had to change anyone that young and hopefully, he never will. Kids that young didn’t deserve the pain of being turned. “The youngest that I’ve changed was a fourteen year old. A couple of boys beat her up. She still has some of the marks that they left on her. I’ve changed one person that wasn’t close to death and that was because she fell in love with one of my sons. The two of them left, though. And my mate was my wife when we were alive. The person who changed me changed her because he got tired of me talking about her.” He didn’t think that he had ever found a clan that went along with the way his family did. Hopefully no trouble was caused then. Patrick wanted to stay low, so they could stay longer. He thought about saying more, but kept quiet, wondering what Skylar would say next.

Skylar smirked as he listened to Patrick. He did nod to allow Patrick know that he was not a young vampire. “Most vampires are and most of them do over look and take it for granted and yet they underestimate me.” He stated. “It’s well to know that you do not. But I do not share my age.” He glanced around for a second then looked back, “I do not care for those terms either. Being that I have been around for a while I tend to use them when I first meet others so I can get a feel for them.” he added.
He chuckled and nodded, “Yes, my girls are the same. Tristan takes care of the animals and the blood. It’s a high fence around a large forested area. Give me a chance to talk with my family from this and we will set a meeting between our families. They are nervous with outsiders, yet you seem to be similar to us so I don’t see why they should have any problems.” He said as he realized that he strayed from his point, “Anyway, if things go well, then you are welcome to hunt on our land.”
He listened to the man speak about his family. He did have to laugh as he heard about the love. He nodded, “I probably would have done the same had the event presented itself.” He said, “One that I turned was like that but he chose not to have his wife turned.” He added. He didn’t want to go to much in detail about their lives since it was something for them to tell and share. “It seems that we do share a lot of similarities. We do keep a low profile. The Slytherin Gang that runs through Hogwarts, knows that I am a vampire as well as a few that are around me. They have not shared with anyone. We will ensure that no one else will find out. However, I will warn you of Scorpius Malfoy. He does know of you and your clan. But he will not let anyone know. I do suggest that you make a friend out of him rather than an enemy.”

Patrick knew better than to underestimate someone. Underestimating people could mean death. Some people were alot stronger than they looked. "I don't underestimate people and it doesn't matter what your true age is. I wasn't asking for your age. I was just stating." Every vampire does something different when they meet others for the first time. For him, he made sure they understood what their family was like and he always told just what he preferred to be called.
Patrick wasn't sure how Mary would take to meeting other vampires, no matter how similar they were to them. Hopefully, if Larten ever comes back, he could help. Mary and Larten were closer. Hopefully, a meeting between them did go well. Patricia and Marcia were what he'd have to worry about. It might just take awhile to prepare those two.
He didn't really have all that much of a choice. The one that changed him never told him that he would change Marcia. It was just one night, out of the blue, that he changed her. Patrick didn't have to fight. He was glad that she was with him and he knew that she was happy, but she missed out on life. She could've lived a long life without him. He knew about the gang. Mary was in it. "I know about the gang, as much as Mary could tell me anyways and I know about Scorpius. I can try to befriend him, as long as he tries to befriend me. I can only be nice to someone for so long if they aren't being nice to me."
