Albus was up in his dorm, trying to find something to wear. It was his first date, not counting the dance, since Callista broke up with him. He had to look nice. He couldn’t believe that Ayden had agreed to go out with him. She was one that he wanted to go out with since he got over Callie. The only problem was Bella. He’d fallen for her at the dance. What if he liked Ayden as much as he did Bella and wanted to date them both? Albus was not like Louis. He wasn’t a player. He preferred to date one girl at a time. He didn’t think that he’d be able to choose between the two of them and he wouldn’t want to hurt them.
He looked at the clock and realized that it was about six in the evening. Everyone would be heading up to the entrance hall now for dinner. Albus was glad that today, he wouldn’t have to eat the school food. He jumped into the shower and then threw on Khaki pants and a long sleeved, button down shirt. He tucked in the shirt and threw on a black blazer with the letter ‘A’ stitched into it. The coat had been made for him by his cousin Dominique. Albus looked at himself in the mirror, ran his hands through his hair and then smiled. He did clean up well.
After putting on dressy shoes, he went downstairs to the common room and looked around. A few of his friends were sitting in the room and he waved at them as he left the room and walked upstairs to the entrance hall and managed to get outside before anybody else could see him. Albus walked slowly towards the front gate, trying not to act like he was in a rush. He was really nervous right now. Another reason he walked so slow was because of that. He’d end up sweating and he didn’t want to smell when he got there. The only other time that he’d been this nervous was when he first asked Callista out. That had been his first date ever. He really hoped that he didn’t make any mistakes. Albus did like her.
He quickened his pace a little when he got to Hogsmeade and then walked briskly into Madam Puddifoot’s. He really wished that he could afford something a lot better, but he couldn’t. He was broke and had to borrow money from his cousins. Albus really had to find a job now that he was on his own. “Hi,” he said, smiling at the waitress. “I’m expecting someone, so a table for two please.” He was shown to a table fairly close to the door and he sat down. He didn’t order anything. He’d wait for Ayden to show up. Albus sat with his back to the door, trying not to look anxious.

The week had crawled by at a snail's pace for Ayden. Ever since Albus Severus Potter asked her out, the date was all she could talk about. Of course, she told her her friends that he asked her. Most of them seemed to approve, some were even a bit jealous. Ayden thought nothing of all of Albus being practically a full year younger than her. That didn't matter too much. The only person she hadn't told about her date with Albus was her brother, Phoenix. She knew he wouldn't approve of it. Aye didn't need her brother's approval. Either way, she was going to go on a date with Albus. One date wasn't going to kill her.
Ayden spent a good portion of the afternoon with her friends, trying to figure out what to wear for the date. After at least twenty different changes, the girls finally found one outfit they could all agree one. Honestly, Aye didn't want their opinions but, they insisted on it. After the outfit was picked, Ayden forced them to leave her alone. She could finish the rest on her own. She still had a little time before she had to leave anyway.
Aye did her hair, deciding to just leave her long, blond locks down. She sighed, looking at herself in the mirror. She had to wonder how the evening would go. The two would be meeting at Madam Puddifoot's, which Ayden didn't mind going to. It definitely was a nice setting for a date, much better than the busy bustle of other places. Aye resolved she would just have to wait and see how things went. Word around her social circle was that Albus had been seeing some Bletchley girl. Ayden brushed it off at nothing. So, they went to a dance together, big deal.
When it was time, and Ayden felt ready, she left the girls' dormitories, and through the common room. She glanced around, thinking that maybe Albus would wait for her there to walk with her. Not seeing him, Aye proceeded to head out of the castle, and to the path leading to Hogsmeade. She kept her pace even, slow but not too slow as to make her late.
Ayden reached the end of her journey, the front of Madam Puddifoot's. She took a few moments, to calm her nerves, and put on a smile. With some brief hesitation, Ayden walked into the building. She glanced around at the tables, her eyes searching to see if Albus was here yet. A waitress caught her attention, and Ayden stated she was meeting someone here. The woman said that just a few moments ago, a boy came in saying the same. She pointed Ayden off in the right direction, and after a brief distance, Ayden was at the table, standing a few steps behind Albus. Taking in a quiet, deep, breath of air, Ayden walked past him, and sat down in the chair opposite him. "Hi," she said, with a smile.

Is it cool if I hold your hand? Is it wrong if I think it's lame to dance? Do you like my stupid hair? Would you guess that I didn't know what to wear? I'm too scared of what you think You make me nervous so I really can't eat It was so weird. He hadn’t been all that nervous when he’d asked Bella to go to the dance with him and he hadn’t been nervous at the dance. But now, sitting in Madam Puddifoot’s, he had butterflies in his stomach. That was a very unpleasant feeling. It had to be just because he was with the most beautiful girl in Slytherin. Albus thought about all the wrong things that he could say and all the wrong things that he could do. He knew that you shouldn’t think about that when you were nervous, but he couldn’t help it. Knowing his luck, he’d end up doing that and being back at school before dinner even ended. No, he couldn’t think like that. He had to believe that he did and said all the right things.
Every girl was different, but he knew how to treat them. He would just treat her the same way that he treated Callie and Annabella. He would show her kindness and respect and hope that she wasn’t one of those girls that preferred a guy to be mean to her. Albus, no matter how mean he was to other people, couldn’t be mean to a girl that he was interested in. He couldn’t be mean to any girl period. He was raised better than that. He folded his hands on top the table and stared straight ahead. No doubt that the waitresses and other patrons were thinking that he was on his first date. You could usually spot it and Albus was showing all the signs.
After a few minutes of having them folded, he moved them back to his lap and rubbed them on his pants. His hands were really sweaty. He hoped that as this date progressed, he became less nervous and more comfortable. Albus didn’t turn when he heard her voice, but he did look up as she approached. “Hi,” he said, as she sat down. “You look beautiful tonight.” A waitress stopped by, wanting to take their orders and he smiled at Ayden. “What would you like?"

Ayden smiled and blushed slightly at his kind words. "Thank you," she said. "You look good too," she added. Ayden was about to carry on when she was interrupted by a waitress. She sighed, realizing that she was suppose to order something. Without looking at a menu she ordered simply. "I'm just going to have a cup of the soup of the day. Oh, and with um..a few bread rolls - if that's not too much trouble," she casted a long glance at Albus. "Just water to drink," she added.
While waiting for Albus to order, Ayden smoothed out her black skirt, while thinking of where their conversations would go. She suddenly began to feel the awkward first date type of emotions. Her lips and mouth felt dry. Ay had been on plenty of dates, she should know how to act by now. Still, a date with Albus Severus Potter was much different. She felt special. Now that he was single, there were tons of girls of all ages that would go out with him, like most of Ayden's friends. Ayden lucked out, as Albus had asked her. She did like him, and even if her brother would explode when he found out, oh well.
Ayden looked back up at Albus, awkwardly looking around. "You know," she said taking a deep breath. "Out of all the girls you could have picked, why me?" Ayden just had to know, why it was her he chose. She was slightly concieted, she was positive she looked good. Ay, however, wanted a relationship where her counterpart liked her for more that her pretty blond hair.
