To some people, Lorcan would probably look like he was dancing. If his sisters saw, he could just picture them laughing at him because he looked strange. He had his wand out and he was moving in a dancing manner, hanging up lights from trees and there were even lamps hanging over the lake, nothing holding them up but magic. After he was done with that, he climbed into the boat and used a little magic to make it look better. It was one of the boats that the school used to bring first years to the castle. Lorcan just made it look stronger, a little bigger and the color was changed to midnight black.
He climbed back on shore and ran his hands through his hair. It was spiky and there was gel in it to make it stay up. His clothes were in the punk rock fashion that he usually wore. His shirt was black with a skull on it and he wore black jeans. Lorcan wasn’t dressed for a date, but he hated dressing up in suits and ties. It wasn’t him. A part of him thought that she might not agree to be his girlfriend because of how he dressed, but he didn’t listen to that. If she turned him down for his dressing style, he wouldn’t want her. Lorcan wasn’t going to change for anyone.
Too bad he couldn’t get music. It would be neat if he could somehow use a spell to get music to play from nowhere. He didn’t think there was one like that though. He should’ve brought his guitar. He could serenade her. Lorcan checked the time quickly, but he didn’t have time to run back to his dorm to get it. It was almost seven. Oh, well, he’ll play for her another time. Tonight they’ll just drift across the sea and talk and eat. He stood there on shore, his arms behind his back, watching for Shayleigh.

Shayleigh didn't know what she was going to wear that night. She had asked for Callie's help who helped her pick out a pear of jeans and nice black top. She left her hair down and added curls at the bottom which looked great with the out fit. She left her face with no make up since it wasn't really needed. She wondered what Lorc was up to. She had met him through Sevvie and was really glad of it. They had flirted to many times and became protective of each other some how and she knows that if he did ask her out she would most likely say yes. He was a guy she liked and she didn't care how he dressed.
Walking through the Castle with Sevvie beside her telling her everything will be alright and kept telling her to stop being nervous because that won't do any good. She couldn't help the feeling though that something was going to happen. Something good of course. Shay looked at Sevvie and gave him a quick hug. She was best friends with the guy and he was like her brother. She wouldn't ever go out with him because she doesn't want to lose their friendship over that. Of course he seems to insist that she likes him which she only likes him as a brother and he never believes her. She even had Scor to tell him that.
Shay told Sevvie that she will meet up with him later she walked outside to find a somewhat warm weather outside for September. She smiled a bit at the thought of a nice night. She looked up and saw the stars. Making her way down to the Black Lake she was surprised to see it so lighted up and she saw Lorc standing there waiting there for her. Her mouth of course was hanging down in awe when she first saw the boat. Closing the mouth shut again she looked back at Lorc and smiled a bit. "Did you do this all yourself?" she asked him with a smile on her face. She walked up to him and gave him a quick hug. "So Lorc what is your plan for us tonight?" she asked him with a smile on her face.

For some reason, as he waited for Shay, he began thinking of that muggle book his mum used to read to his sisters. It was called Cinderella or something like that. About a young teenage girl with evil step sisters and a step mother. She fell in love with a prince at the ball. It made him laugh. Cinderella had been letting her step family tell her what to do. She almost didn’t go. Her fairy godmother had talked her into it, well, that was how he saw it. Anyways, that wasn’t why he was thinking about it though. There was a bunch of magic used and it all wore off at midnight. Lorcan was imagining that his spells all wore off at midnight and Shay ran back up to the castle, leaving behind a shoe. He wouldn’t try it on the foot of every girl in the school, though. He wasn’t going to let some shoe decide who he should date. He only had eyes for Shay and he would go straight to her.
He saw someone approaching in the distance and he ran his hands through his hair and smoothed his clothes, so they wouldn’t appear so wrinkled. He figured he looked pretty good. He was nervous, though. What if she turned him down? What if someone else had asked her? What if she liked someone else? Say Severus Potter? Lorcan knew that they were friends, but it wasn’t all uncommon to form crushes on friends. It had happened before. He had a crush on a friend of his. No, he didn’t think that was the case. They were just friends. Severus made it clear to him that he didn’t like her and she didn’t like him. Anytime that he said she liked him was just a joke. So there was nothing to worry about there. As for Scorpius, he didn’t know the guy very well, but he did know that Dannielle Wood liked him, as did Dakota Bletchley and Athena Zabini. He didn’t think Scorpius liked Shayleigh. Nothing to worry about. Well, one thing to worry about. She could turn him down. She really didn’t need a reason to do that.
Lorcan saw the surprise on her face and had to laugh. “Yes,” he answered. “I’ve been planning it for awhile. It looked better in my mind, but I think it turned out okay.” When she hugged him, he put his arms around her and didn’t want to let go. He never wanted to let her go. “Just a little ride around the lake. And I even have snacks if we get hungry.” Lorcan held his hand out to her. “Shall we?”

Shay looked at him for a moment. "Is my surprise face really that funny?" she looked at him for a moment. She was really impressed with all the lights. She could even imagining him dancing around putting all the lights up with his wand and she started to laugh a bit. "Sorry I just pictured something funny!" she said with a smile. "Mainly you dancing around with a wand trying to put up all of these lights. And you would actually look awesome dancer. It's too bad that the dance you have to take someone from another house to go otherwise don't go." she said with a small frown.
She pulled away from the hug and looked at the lake for a moment and then back him. "You do realize that this lake is longer than ten swimming pools don't you?" she asked him with a smile on her face. She was however ready for anything. She wanted to be with him so bad. Really bad and then wondered about something. "Are you going to the dance?" she asked him with a small smile. "I so wished it wasn't a house unity dance." she said with a smile. "Because then we would be able to go together but we can't because we are in the same house!" she said with a frown.
Then she looked at him as she forgot his question with a smile on her face. "Yes. We shall." she said with a smile taking his hand in her own hand. She looked at him with her hazel eyes and just smiled. She couldn't believe that this guy she was standing there had been friends since Sevvie had introduced them and now well that friendship had turned into a crush. She had mostly thought she was a pretty girl but never a beautiful girl but Scor could tell that she likes Lorc and he is usually right about that kind of stuff.

Lorcan smiled at her question. “It could be,” he said, shrugging. “I wasn’t trying to be mean, though. And laughing extends a person’s life.” He raised an eyebrow when she laughed and then she explained what she pictured and he shook his head. “Picturing me doing ballet moves or something? I don’t dance, Shay. And if I did, I certainly wouldn’t be doing ballet. For the most part, I stood still putting the lights up.”
The lake was huge, so the trip would take awhile. There was nothing wrong with that. “Is that a problem?” he asked. “The trip will take awhile. If you don’t want to spend that long on a boat, we could do something else.” Though he wanted to be on the boat. It was the only way to really guarantee their privacy. And he wanted privacy. Lorcan wanted to ask her out without anybody close enough to hear. “Like I said, I don’t dance. If I go, it’ll be to crash the party. That’s it.”
He helped her into the boat and then got in and sat across from her. He stuck his wand into the water and propelled the boat forward at a slow and comfortable pace. Lorcan wasn’t sure what to say next. He wanted to ask her out now, but he didn’t want to come right out and say it. “I have something ask you, Shay. Do you want to go out with me? You know, be my girlfriend?”

Shay had to smile. “I know I was just giving you a hard time!” she said with a smile and she saw him raise an eye brow as she laughed a bit. “Not Ballet just twirls with a smile on your face. And I know you don’t dance. I’ve been to a school dance with you last year and you just sat there.” she said with a small smile. “Scorpius and Sevvie however dance with me at least once just to make me happy. Sevvie actually had me laughing.” she said with a small smile. Albus to her was like her brother. She never would want to go out with him and would be afraid if they had and broken up they wouldn’t be as close as they are now. The same with Scorpius. “Well that sounds like fun.” she said with a smile on her face.
“No it’s not a problem.” she said with a smile on her face. “And a long boat ride seems like fun. I don’t have any Prefect duties to do so I’m free for the night!” she said with a smile on her face. She wondered though why the boat and the lights. What would make him go through all of the trouble. She had no clue why but she wasn’t going to complain or anything. “You like to crash parties?” she asked him for a moment. “If I were to throw a party would you crash it or just enjoy yourself?” she asked him for a moment. She was planning on having a party soon but wasn’t sure where and when.
As he helped her into the boat she was thinking about a lot of things. Mainly she was still wondering what’s going on. She wondered if he was going to ask her to be his girlfriend. She had always had liked him. And Sevvie had known that and tried to tell her just ask him out if he doesn’t. Don’t loose out on the one you love. As the boat moved forward at a slow pace she looked at him with a smile on her face. He looked cute just sitting there in front of her. She looked at him with a curious look on her face when he said that he had something to ask her. Her heart started to pound. She had a feeling that he was going to ask her out but wasn’t sure but it seemed like her heart knew. “Yes Lorcan. I will be your girlfriend.” she said as she took his hands into her own. “You just made my day you know that.” she said with a smile on her face.

Lorcan shook his head as he looked at her. “Hey,” he said, pretending to be angry, “this is supposed to be a ‘don’t give Lorcan a hard time’ zone.” He laughed to show that he was joking and loosely wrapped an arm around her neck. “Twirling and smiling? Obviously, you don’t know me very well. Since when do I twirl and smile?” Lorcan frowned after saying that, but he couldn’t keep a straight face for long and began cracking up again. When around her, he couldn’t help but to laugh. He was always so happy around her. She made him happy.
“You better be free because I’m not planning on returning you.” Not until he wanted to return her. He didn’t think that would happen though. He could spend the rest of his life on the boat, as long as she didn’t get tired of him and jump overboard. Lorcan almost laughed at the thought, but it wasn’t exactly funny because it could happen. That was the scary thing. “Shay, promise me that if you get tired of me, you won’t jump overboard. All you need to do is tell me, so I can throw you overboard.” He paused for a moment and then said, “I mean, so I can return you to school.” Lorcan grinned mischievously at the thought of crashing a party. He wouldn’t crash her party unless if he wasn’t invited. “If you have a party, I better be invited. Otherwise, I will crash it. I only crash parties I’m not invited to.”
He made her day? More like, she made his. Finally, they were together. He’d wanted this for a long time. Lorcan grinned at her and squeezed her hands lightly. This seemed like a dream. He was going to wake up soon and he would be single again. He didn’t want that to happen, but it was his luck. He didn’t say anything for awhile, waiting to see if he woke up. It didn’t happen, though, and he smiled. “I think I’m dreaming. I keep expecting to wake up in my dorm.” He moved so he was sitting next to her and held her hand throughout the boat ride.
