Why was she even going? She wasn’t one that really liked getting dressed up. She usually dressed very boyishly. Liberty didn’t have to go to the dance. It wasn’t like she was asked to go and she didn’t even think that her boyfriend would be there. It would probably be one boring night. She should just stay here in the common room, staring out the window or maybe she should go and find Alex to spend the time with. Liberty could also find her brothers and pick a fight with them. There were a million things she could do and none of them involved going to the dance.
Yet, there she was, putting on a black dress that barely reached her knees. She just put her hair back in a pony tail. Liberty didn’t know how to do a lot of hair styles and she didn’t feel like doing all that. A simple ponytail would be fine, especially if she was right and it was a boring night. She refused to wear high heels. She had never worn those and she’d probably just fall in them. She wasn’t going to the dance to embarra*s herself. She put on simple black dress shoes that were flat on the bottom. They looked a lot like muggle ballet shoes.
She frowned at herself in the mirror and left the dorm. She didn’t look right wearing a dress, but she wouldn’t have to wear it for long. She would stay for a little bit, see who was there and if Alex was there or if he would show up and if not, she would leave. The common room was close to empty and people glanced at her when she came down, but turned away quickly laughing. Liberty just rolled her eyes and walked through the door to the entrance hall. She stood there for a minute and then continued on her way to the great hall. She stood in the back, by the wall, watching those around. She looked really uncomfortable and self conscious being there alone. Liberty definitely wouldn’t be there long.
