Saturday morning. Cory left his dorm and sent a note to his parents, telling them that he was coming home later and he was bringing a friend. Kai Bletchley probably wouldn’t be accepted by his parents, since her name was Bletchley. That wasn’t going to stop him from asking them something important. He had a crush on the girl and when they were old enough, he was determined to go out with her. Kai meant everything to him.
He hated only being able to hang out with her during the school year. He wanted to see her more, but she lived at a muggle orphanage because she was terrified of her siblings. He understood that she had good reason to be. If one his siblings had landed him in the hospital, Cory knew he’d be terrified of them as well. He’d met Kai on the train their first year. He’d been pleased when he’d been sorted into Hufflepuff with her.
After sending the letters, he went back to his dorm and got dressed in torn jeans and a blue t-shirt. Settling back down in the common room, as he watched older students go to Hogsmeade. He’d been there before he went to school. There wasn’t anything fun to do there. Sure, butterbeer was good, but he could also get that at just about anytime. Nothing too fascinating about Hogsmeade. Cory didn’t understand why so many people wanted to be there.
He didn’t know where Kai was, so he left directions to his house for her and left the school. He took the knight bus to the neighborhood and walked the rest of the way. Cory found the door locked when he tried it, so he knocked, hoping that they were home. He turned from the door, looking up and down the street, wondering if Kai would show up soon.

Titus was out grocery shopping and he had no idea what Sam was doing at all. It was one of those days where he felt like not going in and he was glad that he had. While he was shopping an owl flew into the store which made the store manager mad and he explained a bit that the owl didn't know where he was going and that the paper was just probably for it's nest and told the manager that he would take the paper and take care of it. Which the store manager just looked at him and rolled his eyes and walked away. Soon after he left he read the letter quickly and realized that his son Cory was coming home soon. He looked at his watch and saw that he needed to go.
After buying the Gorgeries he had he quickly as fast as he could drove home. He waited unpatiently at the lights when they were red but followed the roles like the other Muggles. He liked driving better than magic and he didn't really like going to Diagon Alley for their food either since they had Brandon and ever since they are used to going to the Groceries from an actual muggle grocery store. He turned into his neighborhood and his heart started beating. His son was going to be home for a while. Too bad it was after Brandon left to go to America.
Turning towards their house he pulled up into the drive way and saw his son in front of their house. After unlocking his seatbelt and opening his door he grabbed a couple of bags of groceries and walked to the front door and placed the bags down for a moment and then went over to Cory for a moment. "Hey Sport what's up? Why aren't you at school like you are supposed to be?" he asked his son as he gave him a quick hug. "Like to help put the Groceries away or would you like to wait for this friend of yours?" he asked him with a smile on his face.

Cory watched his father from the porch as he took the bags out of the car. When he set them down, he grabbed one. “I told you I was coming home to talk to you about something and I mentioned that Kai was coming, too. But I don’t know when she’ll be here, so I’ll help.” He hoped that she’d show up soon though. Hopefully, she didn’t get lost.
He stood there, waiting for his dad to unlock the door. He had to wonder if he should prepare him for the friend he had coming over. He didn’t know if he’d appreciate him hanging out with someone whose family was known death eaters and whose siblings were all in the gang. “Dad, my friend, Kai, please don’t hate her just because of who she is. She’s a great girl.”
Cory looked back at the street, but never saw her. “I hope she doesn’t get lost. She’s not used to this neighborhood. She’s used to Muggle London more. Say, where’s Mum?” He hoped that she would show up soon. He wanted both of his parents to answer the question they were going to ask, not just one. “I want her here, too. I hope she shows up soon.”

“Yeah but did you have to send an owl?” Titus asked him for a moment. “Why couldn’t you have trained him to go to the car and wait? He caused a ruckus at the Grocery Store. The store’s manager wasn’t very happy to have a flying Owl inside his store.” he said with a smile on his face. “But I’m glad to see you Sport. It’s been to long since I’ve seen you last. My haven’t you grown.” he said with a smile on his face.
He looked at his son for a moment. “When have I hated anyone for who they are?” he asked him for a moment. “I accept anyone for who they are and not just because of their last name.” he said as he unlocked the door and opened the door and took the bags inside the house. He sure did things the muggle way a lot. And that’s usually uncommon for Magical people to do and he knew that.
“Cory I don’t think she’ll have a problem finding our house.” he said for a moment on his face. “We are the only house that has a car in front of their house! What kind of magical people are we?” he asked his son for a moment. He still couldn’t figure out how to tell his son that grandma is dead. He looked at the couch and the blanket wasn’t there anymore brought back memories. He swallowed and kept moving on.
Once in the kitchen he stopped for a moment. “Sport. There is something I need to tell you. Well actually two things really.” he said with a small smile as he started putting the Groceries away. “One Brandon isn’t going to America. He’s out with mum I think buying new clothes and he’s going to go to a public muggle school that is near by.” he said for a moment. “Mum and I are most likely going to work from home. And grandma is dead.” he said with a small frown. “I think she used to call you Corikins.” he said with a small frown. “I’m going to miss my mother even if she did give me a nickname that I didn’t like either. The only one she hadn’t given a nickname to is your mother!” he said with a small smile on his face. “Well actually I maybe becoming a Professor at the school.” he said for a moment.

Kai was hoping that Cory was waiting for her. She wasn’t used to Wizard neighborhoods, as she lived in the muggle world too long. Another reason, she was nervous. She was going to be meeting the Minister! That was big! She didn’t know how he’d like the idea of Cory being friends with a Bletchley. After all, her parents were known death eaters and her siblings were known to be Gang members. Many people distrusted Kai because they expected her to be just like them. That’s why she wasn’t in the army.
She knew that Cory had left when she went down to the common room and didn’t see him. She received his letter, though. Kai bit her lip and hoped that she didn’t get lost. She was out of the school in seconds and racing to the village of Hogsmeade, where she caught the knight bus and took the unpleasant ride to Cory’s neighborhood. He was a half blood, with a muggleborn father… would there house reflect that? Would they look more muggle then wizard? She decided, after getting off the bus, that that was what she was going on. Hopefully, she didn’t go to the wrong house.
She walked slowly up the street, looking at each house carefully and noticing magic just about every where. There was one house that caught her eye. It had a car out front. She stopped in front of the house for a minute and then continued walking. Kai walked all the way up the street and then back down, stopping once again at the house with the car. That seemed to be the most normal house on the street. She would try that first. Quietly she went up the steps and knocked, a little hesitantly, on the door. She waited nervously at the door, hoping she had the right house.

Sam had spent all morning planning the funeral for Titus' mother next week. She didn't want him to worry about it, so she took care of every last detail. Today, she had ordered flowers, and food for after. It was all very sad work but, someone had to do it. Sam elected herself to do it, with a little help from her father-in-law. Working at the Ministry wasn't easy. The Prophet kept dropping owls at her desk, asking for a statement. She issued a formal statement, that the family is deeply saddened but, it will not effect their current work...blah, blah, blah.
Afterward, Sam did a little therapy shopping for herself. She needed some way to take her mind off things for a little while at least. Once she got back home, she knew it would all come back. Still, a little relief was better than none. Sam's shopping was unproductive. In the end, Sam got disgruntled with herself and Apparated home, ending up in the front yard.
Walking toward the house, Sam's eyes caught the frame of a young girl knocking on the door. She tilted her head a little and looked around. Titus' car was home, and there was no sign of anything else. Sam wondered who this girl was. Little did she know, it was Cory's friend, and Cory was in the house. Sam walked up to the door, her hand tightly wound around her wand - just in case. Sam had gotten a bit jumpy lately, what with Titus' attack and the death of her mother-in-law, she just was overly worried about things.
"Can I help you?" Sam asked gently as she approached the door. She looked at her and put on a kind face. Sam glanced at the front door. Maybe this was some trick, more crap from the guys that - No, Samantha told herself. She had to stop thinking like that. What could this girl do? Nothing, she looked harmless. In fact, Sam thought she was rather pretty for a girl her age.
